....Spring Break: March 15-March 19
Hello and welcome back to Luke’s Corner on the USD 281 website. Today’s topic is, “What can you do with your spring break?” I have ten ideas that might help you decide what to do with yourself while you have the week off.
Number 1: Take some time out of your day to go outside and enjoy the spring air. Go on a jog or a walk. It’s not every day that you get the chance to do something good for yourself, and spending the time off outside with nature is a good way to refresh and rejuvenate your senses.
Number 2: Since you don’t have to get up for school over spring break, take some time to sleep in a little in the mornings. You deserve the chance to sleep until eleven in the morning.
Number 3: Break out all that money you have saved up and take a trip to the slopes in the Rockies. I know for a fact that snowboarding is a blast.
Number 4: It’s always good to see family on breaks like this. Call up your brothers or sisters, grandmas or grandpas, uncles or aunts, just get together with family and spend time with them. You never know how fast time goes and you might not get chances to do that in the future.
Number 5: If you’re planning on doing spring sports, spring break would be the perfect time to get a little ahead of the game. For instance, I play golf in the spring so over spring break I plan to hit the course to get a little pre-practice time. Track runners, you could go on runs or train however you train over spring break. It’s a perfect time to do it.
Number 6: If you want to stay “old school” and do nothing, here is a thought for you. Got a game system? If you do break it out, play it up. You’re on a break from school so go ahead and sit down and play those games.
Number 7: If you are stumped and can’t think of anything to do, grab a friend and go to Hays. Spend some time in the mall or Walmart; just get out of town so you aren’t bored with nothing to do.
Number 8: Spring break is a time to get away from school, not your friends. In other words, while you are stumped with nothing to do, call a friend and have them come over to your house or you go over there. It’s better to be around people you like than doing nothing at all.
Number 9: Another thing to remember, mostly for you seniors, take this time to go over all the scholarships and college applications you may need to fill out or finish. Take a college visit if you are not for sure where you are going to go. Just remember seniors, this is your last high school spring break.
Number 10: The most important thing you should remember, above all things, no matter what you do, have fun and be safe. Enjoy your time off and create stories that you can tell all your friends when you come back to school.
