The Hill City High School FCCLA chapter held a fundraiser Thursday, Sept. 19 to support recent graduate Bryce Ashbaugh. The theme of the day encouraged students to wear an Ashbaugh "strikeout cancer" shirt or orange to support the fight against leukemia. $1 donations were given in exchange for a piece of duct tape that was then used to "stick" Principal Alan Stein to the wall. "You know people like Bryce never know how strong they need to be until being strong is the only choice they have," said Kay Mitchell, FCCLA sponsor. "The support of the Hill City Junior/Senior High School staff, students, FCCLA officers, members and our community is just amazing." Claire Mersch, president of Hill City FCCLA, presented all donations to the Ashbaugh family, with Bryce close-by on a FaceTime call. "I love this community. I'm so glad we were able to come together and support Bryce in his time of need," said Mersch. "Once a Ringneck, always a Ringneck."
