The Hill City Ringnecks took on the Wallace County Wildcats on Friday (9/11) and fell just short of a victory, moving their record to (1-1). The Ringnecks trailed for most of the game, but made a late rally to take the lead at the beginning of the 4th Quarter. The Ringnecks extended their lead 22-14, but shortly after that Wallace County converted 2 onside kicks into 3 consecutive touchdowns to pull away and beat the Ringnecks 38-22. The Ringneck defense had a new stand-out player in Blake Harmon. The junior had 11 tackles with 2 tackles for loss, and added a sack as well. Harmon also added value in special teams and offensively, with 1 blocked punt and 1 receiving touchdown. Leading the rushing game, junior Jaxson Smith led the way with 84 yards and 2 touchdowns. Smith also added 8 tackles on the defensive side. The Ringneck Football Team looks to improve their record to 2-1 this Friday against the Ellis Railroaders at home.
